Janis M. Hopper, 65, passed away April 23, 2018. She was born July 23, 1952, in Portsmouth, Virginia, the daughter of John H. Horning and Mary Jane (Zollinger) Horning. Janis was preceded in death by her father; brother, John H. Horning, Jr.; granddaughter, Winterstar; and grandson, Nathan
Janis is survived by her son, Brian (Deb) Hopper; daughter, Stephanie (Andy) Hopper-Gaunce; five grandchildren, Moses and Lena Hopper and Nora, Ellis, and Levon Hopper-Gaunce; her sister, Carole (Steve) Blankenbaker; sister-in-law, Lisa Horning; her mother, Jane; and many nieces and nephews.
Janis graduated from Clay High School in 1970, and from Indiana University School of Radiology in 1972. She was a devoted X-ray technician for over 30 years.
Janis was a loving and generous daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother, and will be dearly missed. Janis was very active in her church, had a strong faith, and was very generous. She was an artist, always creating.
She made her home in Maryland, Indiana, Michigan, and North Carolina.
The family would like to thank McGivney Health Care Center and Harbor Light Hospice for their compassionate care.
